Online Business Resources & Tools I Recommend

This is my practical shortlist of online business resources for people who want to build without buying every shiny tool they see. Some are tools I use, some I have used, and others earn a place here because they solve a specific job well.

You do not need all of them. Start with the problem you are solving, choose the simplest tool that does that job, and add complexity only when the business actually needs it.

Which Resource Should You Choose?

If you do not want to compare twenty tools, use this as your starting filter. The detailed recommendations below explain when each alternative makes sense.

Sell from social quickly Start with Beacons. It combines a link-in-bio page with simple selling tools.
Sell digital products with a simple storefront Start with Payhip. Its free plan keeps the barrier to entry low while you validate an offer.
Build funnels and email in one place Start with systeme.io. It keeps pages, email, offers, and delivery under one roof.
Launch an owned WordPress website Use Hostinger for hosting and Namecheap when you want a separate domain registrar.
Create graphics and simple brand assets Use Canva. The free plan is enough for many early-stage content and design tasks.
Automate repetitive work later Use ManyChat for social conversations, Make for visual workflows, or n8n when you need deeper control.

Storefront Resources for Your First Offers

A beginner does not always need a full ecommerce website. If you are validating a digital product or sending traffic from social media, a simple storefront can get you selling faster. My order here is Beacons first for social-first simplicity, Payhip second for digital-product selling, and Stan Store third as the more premium creator option.

Payhip Digital Product Pick

Start with Payhip

Best for: Selling downloads, digital products, memberships, and other simple offers without a monthly subscription at the beginning.

Why I recommend it: Payhip has a Free Forever plan and gives beginners a straightforward way to put an offer online. The free plan charges a platform transaction fee, so it is especially useful while you are testing demand.

Use this when: The storefront itself matters more than having a full creator link-in-bio ecosystem.

Stan Store Premium Option

Explore Stan Store

Best for: Creators who want a polished social storefront, booking tools, lead capture, and creator-focused selling features in one place.

Why it ranks third for beginners: Stan does not currently offer a permanent free storefront plan. It can be an excellent tool, but I would rather see a beginner validate the offer before adding another monthly expense.

Use this when: You already know you want a creator-store model and are comfortable paying for a more polished all-in-one experience.

Plans, transaction fees, and included features can change. Always verify current pricing on the provider’s website before choosing a plan.
Leads, email and conversion

Funnel & Email Resources

Once you are capturing leads or selling more than one simple offer, you need a place to manage pages, email follow-up, and customer movement. Do not choose the most powerful platform. Choose the simplest platform that supports the business you are actually building.

ClickFunnels

View the Trial

Best for: People who specifically want a funnel-focused platform and are willing to pay more for a dedicated conversion environment.

Why I include it: ClickFunnels is a mature alternative for businesses where funnels are central to the sales model. It is not my first recommendation for a cost-conscious beginner.

Use this when: You want a more specialized funnel platform and already understand why you need it.

GoHighLevel Advanced

Explore GoHighLevel

Best for: Agencies, service businesses, and more advanced operators who need CRM, pipeline management, automations, funnels, and client workflows together.

Why I include it: It can replace a large stack of separate software once the business is complex enough to justify it.

Use this when: You need customer relationship management and automation beyond a basic creator or funnel setup.

Build what you own

Website, Domain & Hosting Resources

A storefront or social profile can get you moving quickly, but an owned website becomes increasingly valuable as your brand grows. Build it when it serves a clear purpose, not because someone told you every beginner needs ten pieces of infrastructure on day one.

Namecheap Domain Pick

Get Your Domain

Best for: Registering a domain separately from your hosting provider and keeping control of your brand name.

Why I recommend it: A domain is one of the few digital assets in your setup that can move with you from platform to platform.

Use this when: You have settled on a business or brand name and are ready to secure the domain.

SiteGround

View SiteGround

Best for: WordPress users who value established support and want another reputable hosting option.

Use this when: Support and a managed WordPress experience matter more to you than choosing the lowest-cost starting option.

Bluehost

View Bluehost

Best for: Beginners who prefer a familiar WordPress hosting brand and want another straightforward entry-level choice.

Use this when: You are comparing beginner hosting options and want to evaluate several established providers before deciding.

Create faster

Design, AI & Content Resources

AI and design tools should shorten the distance between an idea and a useful piece of work. They should not become another rabbit hole. Use them to draft, research, design, repurpose, and produce faster while keeping your own judgment in the loop.

ChatGPT

Open ChatGPT

Best for: Research, brainstorming, writing support, planning, troubleshooting, analysis, and turning rough ideas into structured work.

Use this when: You want a versatile AI assistant that can help across many parts of a small online business.

Best for: Long-form writing, working with documents, structured thinking, and another useful perspective when you want to compare AI outputs.

Use this when: You work with longer documents or want a second AI tool available for writing and analysis.

Best for: AI-assisted video creation, avatar-based video, explainers, and repurposing content across formats or languages.

Use this when: Video supports your strategy but you do not want every piece of content to require a full recording setup.

Add systems later

Automation Resources

Automation belongs after you have something worth automating. Start manually, learn what repeats, then use software to remove repetitive work. That prevents you from spending days automating a process your business did not need in the first place.

Best for: Visual, no-code workflows that connect apps and move information between systems.

Why I recommend it: Make is easier to visualize than many automation platforms and has a free plan for getting familiar with workflow automation.

Use this when: You keep copying information between apps or performing the same administrative steps over and over.

n8n Advanced Control

Explore n8n

Best for: More technical users who want flexible workflow automation, deeper customization, and self-hosting options.

Why I recommend it: It gives you far more control when a business outgrows simpler workflows and needs custom logic or more advanced integrations.

Use this when: You know exactly what process you want to automate and need flexibility beyond a basic visual connector.

Only when the model requires it

Two More Resources Worth Knowing About

These are useful, but I would not put them in every beginner’s stack. Add them when your actual business model creates the need.

Shopify

Use it for: A dedicated ecommerce business selling physical products or a catalog large enough to justify a full online store. Do not pay for a full ecommerce platform if a simple digital storefront is all you need.

Explore Shopify

Fiverr

Use it for: Hiring help with specific tasks such as design, video editing, WordPress work, voiceover, or other specialized work you do not need to learn yourself.

Keep it simple

You Probably Need Fewer Tools Than You Think

The right resource is the one that solves the next real problem in front of you. If you are still comparing platforms because you are unsure what business to build, that is a direction problem, not a software problem. If you already know the direction but keep getting stuck on what to do next, that is where structured implementation becomes valuable.
